1935年11月23日，胡蝶27岁，与上海实业家潘有声结婚。潘有声原籍福建省莆田县。潘有声先在礼和洋行，后到德兴洋行任总经理，与明星公司常做纸的生意，一次私人舞会上与胡蝶认识。他们俩从恋爱到结婚经历了六年之久。1935 年，经过马拉松式的恋爱，胡蝶嫁给了潘有声。婚后,胡蝶跟潘有声回福建度蜜月，拜望家乡亲但因路途不靖,未能回到莆田，只在福州市与亲友见面。
