Thailand, Bangkok period, 19th/early 20th centurySeated in meditation with his right hand lowered in bhumisparsha mudra, the surfaces of his monk's robes the elaborately stepped base cast with intricate flower and geometric patterns visible beneath the worn layers of red and gold lacquer, a bronze loop at the back of the stand meant to hold an umbrella and a hole at the top of the ushnisha meant to hold a flame, both no longer preserved (losses, wear to lacquer). 25in (63.5cm) high
