|盒作蔗段式，直壁平底，子母口，唇边雕回纹一周。盒内髹黑漆，外壁及底以剔红漆工艺装饰，通体雕龟背锦纹，盖面浮雕胡人骑行图案，胡人秃顶高颧骨，杏目无须，身着胡服，腰间束起，双袖舞动，一腿弯曲，一腿跨出，并穿着长靴，作回首状。胯下战马身披铠甲，体型健硕，四蹄腾起，身姿矫健，鬃毛及尾巴随风高扬，栩栩如生，自由洒脱之象尽显其中。整器精致典雅，规整大方，古韵十足，构图舒缓得宜，方寸之间人文雅趣之情尽显，值得玩味。
