The lot comprises two soldiers seated on horseback, each wearing long robes, one holds one had at his side and the other hand up, the other holds both hands up. One is seated on a white painted horse and the other on a grey painted horse.
The result of Oxford Authentication Thermoluminescence test no. C109g32 for the white painted horse is consistent with the dating of this lot.
Condition: The figure on the pale horse: the horse with two restored cracks to the tail; the front legs restored; loss to the right hand; a drill hole to the haunch; 32.5 cm. high
The figure on the dark horse: small repairs, including to the hand and the tail; 34 cm. high
All: chips to the extremities; flaking to the pigment.
