The double-doors of the cabinet are inlaid with various colours of soapstone depicting two scholars beside trees in a rocky landscape, bordered by a lacquered chilong band, all above two mythical beasts. The sides of the cabinet are decorated with a large peony blossom. The upper surface is decorated in gilt lacquer with scrolling lotus.
Condition: Small restorations to the corners and edges with associated overpainting.
Age crackles to the lacquer.
A few chips, fine cracks, and scratches to the inlays.
