Fine & Important 18th Century Chinese Ruyi of 3 elaborately carved and large White Jade Plaques mounted on a zitan scepter inlaid with silver wires forming "100 Shou characters." In a fine presentation case of hongmu wood inlaid with floral-carved shell work and with a glass case over the top. Length of ruyi 19 3/4 inches (50 cm.). Width of largest plaque 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm.). Width of case 23 3/4 inches (60.5 cm.) X height 13 3/4 inches (35 cm.) X depth 8 3/4 inches (22.5 cm.). Good condition, the 3 large white jade carved plaques are held on to the ruyi by carved gilt wood frames with a few age related cracks and separations. Provenance: With a card notated in ink, "Chinese Jade / Presented to Mr. R. P. Schwerin / by / Canton Chinese Chamber of Commerce / Canton / First Year of Republic of China / Oct 31, 1911."
