本器以上好的和闐玉料細雕而成，玉質清透盈潤，精巧玲瓏。全器以圓雕手法細琢，雙眼圓凸，蟬首刻畫細膩，蟬翼略長凸出身體，翼上細雕紋路，逼真寫實。腹部上琢刻細小蟬足，捲曲於腹上。中間一穿孔，可供穿繩配戴。 清代時期用玉講究，尤其乾隆時期國力昌盛，玉材原料充足。本器使用極好的玉料，運用清代精湛工藝將玉蟬雕琢的格外精緻，紋飾分佈稀疏明朗，活靈活現，一絲不苟
