Two carved ivory pomanders and covers


18th/19th centuryThe first of oval form, carved and painted to each side with blossoming and fruiting, leafy gourd tendrils, on a finely reticulated ground, within a ruyi and scrollwork form border; the second carved to each side with a sinuous curled chilong, on an openwork geometric foliate pattern ground, within key fret borders.The largest 7cm (2.3/4in) long.
