|The success of the Carrera model inspired Jack Heuer's innovative and creative spirit to introduce a Carrera in 1966 with a date wheel. This first chronograph with a date window was developed mainly for the US market and was advertised with the slogan: 'a wristwatch, a stopwatch and a calendar, too'.The first version of the Carrera 3147 had a date window at 12 O'clock and was only produced for one year. The current lot features the dial configuration of the second version with the date aperture moved to 9 O'clock. This new arrangement gave the watch an asymmetric modern twist to the dial which is highly popular with collectors today.The current lot is being offered by the original vendor who purchased the piece in 1967.
