AN ENAMELED GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, MANNER OF YE BENGQIOpaque white glass with delicately painted polychrome enamels. China, 20th centuryThis bottle shows a skillfully executed circumferential scene with a scholar crossing a bridge across a river, another scholar and his pupil standing on a rock, a third scholar standing under a pine tree, and finally a scholar with his pupil in a pavilion. The setting consists of a monumental mountain landscape with trees of all kind and a lake with a fisher in a boat. The neck is decorated with a neatly painted leaf border. Although this bottle does not seem to have a lot of age, its quality is of a very high standard, hence an attribution to the Ye Bengqi workshop, the artist's pupils or followers is possible.
