|此拜匣为紫檀材质，呈长方形，周身光素，色泽棕褐，纹理美观。拜匣四边包铜，嵌如意云头锁片，简洁大方。整器制作优良，造型规整，包浆厚实，保存完好，是一件难得的明代器物。拜匣是盛放请柬使用的。由于古时社会等级森严，不同等级之间的交换行为规矩很多。如一户有身份的人家欲邀请另一家前来赴宴，请柬的发送若经由仆役，则须放在拜匣之中，以示郑重。为防止重要文件丢失，有时还需上锁。
