Jean VOLANG (1921-2005). Maisons de village. Technique mixte sur carton. Signé en bas à gauche. 64 x 49 cm (écaillures). Note : artiste peintre né à Hué en 1921 et vivant à Paris à partir de 1949, ancien diplomate vietnamien et homme de lettres. Il s'est formé à l'Ecole Française des Beaux-Arts de Hanoi. Cette œuvre, datant des années 60 après le second retour en France de l'artiste (1956/57), représenterait le village dont est originaire l'artiste... Provenance : acquis directement auprès de l'artiste par son ami, le célèbre écrivain et réalisateur français Henry Zaphiratos. Le frère de l'artiste, Vo Van Haï, était le condisciple d'Henry Zaphiratos à Sciences-Po Paris (1950/52) et fut le directeur et secrétaire particulier du Président Ngo Dinh Diêm jusqu'au coup d'état qui renversa et assassina celui-ci. A la chute de Saïgon en 1975, Vo Van Haï fut arrêté par le nouvelles autorités communistes, mis en camp où il mourut de mauvais traitements malgré l'action d'Amnisty-International...
