A BLUE, WHITE AND GOLD BOTANICAL PLATE AFTER MARIA SIBYLLA MERIAN, China, Qianlong period. The 'Iris' decor was painted after a design by Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717), natural historian and botanical artist who published a series of drawings of insects and plants.
