A FINE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF SYAMATARA, NEPAL, ca. 16th ct., seated in lalitasana on a lotus base with her right hand lowered in varadamudra, the left in a form of vitarkamudra, both hands originally holding stems of lotuses flowering along her upper arms, one finely inlaid with lapis lazuli beads, wearing sari, its border engraved with scrolling tendrils, jewellery set with semi-precious beads, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows running into her nose-bridge, urna inlaid with a turquoise bead, her blue coloured chignon secured with a tiara and topped with a minute figure of Buddha Shakyamuni, unsealed - Property from an important German private collection - Very slightly chipped, minor wear
