|The Sat Sai of Bihari Lal was written for the ruler of Amber, Jai Singh (r.1621-67), based mainly on the love of Radha and Krishna. Nine paintings from the same series were sold at Bonhams, New York, 17 September 2014, lot 143, although none retained their original borders and inscriptions like the present lot.
