1st Karmapa Düsum Khyenpa. Tibet / Nepal. Brown oxidized copper sculpture. Silver inlayed eyes. Painted hair and crown. Height 38 cm (15”). Weight 7120 g. Very high handicraft quality. Karmapa’s hands showing the gesture of teaching (dharmacakra mudra) in front of his heart center. Seated in full lotus posture (dhyana-asana) on a double cushion pedestal. Wearing a black hat in the shape of the famous “Black Crown” (The real “Black Crown was later offered to the 5th Karmapa, Dezhin Shegpa, by the Chinese Emperor Yung Lo.) and a long, three-part robe of a Buddhist monk. Robe and pedestal with very fine engraving. Bottom covered with consecration plate with seal. Very rare and finely casted figure.
