The vase is decorated in a style aimed for the Japanese market with slender vertical double-lined panels enclosing geometric designs, all behind scattered roundels enclosing brocade designs. Each tier has its own foot and base.Catalogue notes:This vase belongs to a very specific body of Chinese porcelain named Shonzui, which was destined for the Japanese market. These pieces began to appear during the Chongzhen period, and rose in popularity in the years to follow as well as inspired later versions such as the present lot.
