The trunk is decorated with raised panels, the front of the chest with a panel containing auspicious animals such as tigers, antelope, and dragons in a mountainous landscape, the top of the box with Kirtimukha amongst lotus, and the sides each decorated with a lotus spray; all surrounded by further lotus blooms and cloud scrolls in colourful pigments. With iron fittings and hinges.Condition: With wear and flaking to the pigments and varnish, particularly to the edges and around the front hinge.Small dents and small holes to the leather consistent with age and use (the largest approx. 4 cm.); minor old repairs to the leather.Damage to the back left corner, and the left side of the cover has been stabilised with metal staples.The back hinges are loose.The front panel possibly overpaintedWear and stains consistent with age and use.Origin: ChinaPeriod: 18th centurySizes: 48.50 cm.
