An okoroshi mask with janiform head attachment. Igbo peoples. Nigeria. ca.1920's. Wood with oil-base paint and organic pigments. Length: 18.50 in. Collected in the late 1950's by Stewart Bart of NYC. Condition is very good, the medium weight wood, weightier than what one sees in this art from post WWII era, is well preserved given the amount of use this mask has seen.
