Egbert Lievensz van der Poel (1621 - 1664) "Star of King" Oil on board painting. Christie's label verso. Sight Size: 13.5 x 9.5 in. Overall Size: 18 x 14 in. Egbert van der Poel was the son of a Delft goldsmith and the brother of Adriaen van der Poel. He painted landscapes, marine, architectural, genre and nocturnal scenes. He was a student of Cornelis Saftleven. Examples of his work can be seen in the National Gallery of Ireland and National Gallery, London. The Detroit Institute of Arts and the Stadel Museum, Amsterdam.
