Kangxi (1662-1722), with deep rounded sides and a flared rim on a short foot, the body decorated with a dragon chasing flaming pearls and a pair of phoenixes, below a band of the 'Eight Buddhist Emblems' and ruyi motifs at, the rim, the interior with a medallion enclosing a further dragon, six character Kangxi mark,

The design of a, dragon and phoenix, representative of the emperor and empress, was the innovation of the Kangxi period to wish the couple a happy marriage. It grew in popularity and was manufactured in large quantities.
