Takeo Yamaguchi (1902-1983) 'Travelling to Tanyong villiage', watercolour drawing, signed in pencil and dated 1946, Titled verso, 30cm x 38cmProvenance: Found amongst the papers of Maurice Coombes Perry and purchased by the present vendor from his son Roger Perry. His father was a civil engineer who lived in Kuala Selangor and was put in charge of the reparations of the irrigation canals to the paddy fieldsbetween 1945-1949. In 1945 Takeo Yamaguchi was conscripted into the Japanese Army. It is possible that he was made to work on the reparations after the Japanese surrender. Roger Perry, who also lived in Kuala Selangor believes that the drawing shows the South side of the river mouth leading to the headland.
