A JAPANESE WOOD NETSUKE EDO 1603-1868 Depicting a tall South Sea Islander, the man clutching a mother of pearl fish against him and with a cheery expression on his face, his eyes inlaid in bone and horn, unsigned but attributed to Tomochika, 8cm. Provenance: from the John and Helen Mang Collection. See Bonhams London, 8th November 2016, lot 36, for a closely related ebony and mother of pearl netsuke of an islander from the Julius and Arlette Katchen Collection signed Tomochika.
