A JAPANESE IVORY NETSUKE EDO/MEIJI PERIOD Depicting a monkey holding a large chestnut, with three young to its side and back, the larger primate's eyes inlaid in horn, signed Shuzan in an oblong reserve on its haunch, 4cm. Cf. H Goodall, The Raymond and Frances Bushell Collection of Netsuke, A Legacy at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, p.361, no.556, for a monkey with very similar facial features also signed Shuzan.
