A JAPANESE IMARI OVAL TRAY 19TH/20TH CENTURY The well painted in polychrome and gilt, with four shaped panels enclosing two character inscriptions in seal script, one reading Tokai, on a dense ground of four distinct patterns, possibly inspired by textiles, the flange with foliate designs in gilt on a red ground and the outside with a band of geometrical designs, the base left unglazed, 27.5cm x 21cm.
