Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th centuryThe first a candlestick in the form of a crane standing atop two turtles and holding a stalk of lotus flower in its beak, unsigned, 33cm (13in) high; the second a goose, signed on its tail Chikayoshi within a rectangular reserve, 8cm x 16cm (3 1/8in x 6¼in); the third Kinko Sennin seated astride a giant carp, signed on the underside Seimin chu, 10.5cm x 14.5cm (4 1/8in x 5¾in); the fourth a bijin, clad in a simple kimono, adjusting her coiffure and walking with a shamisen and bachi (plectrum) in her left hand; signed on the base Takaaki within a round seal on the base. 38.5cm (15 1/8in) high.
