Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1857An oban tate-e print of Asakusa tanbo Torinomachi mode (Asakusa Rice Field and Torinomachi Festival), from the series Meisho Edo hyakkei (100 Famous Views of Edo), depicting a seated cat overlooking rice-fields and Mount Fuji through the latticed window of the upstairs room of a brothel at the Yoshiwara, a throng of people returning from the Torinomachi Festival in the nearby Washi Daimyojin Shrine in the field below, published by Uoya Eikichi, with censor's seal aratame, date seal snake 11 (1857), signed Hiroshige ga; framed and glazed. 35.8cm x 24.3cm (14 1/8in x 9 5/8in).
