Provenance:Private English Collection.Note:This shaft grip was most likely part of chariot fittings typical of late Eastern Zhou dynasty, the late Warring States period and early Western Han dynasty. As such it would have been used to connect and prolong the handle of the umbrella. For a similar sample but decorated with dragons, see AC1994.29.1, Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
