A Chinese lacquer cased ivory and embroidered silk fan Late Qing Dynasty The guards worked with typical Canton style village scenes, the sticks worked with village vignettes, the fan of white silk gauze worked in coloured threads with fanciful birds in flowering branches, with fitted case, the interior painted with birds and flowers, the exterior decorated in gilt with a scene of nobleman and attendants in a fenced garden, bordered by flowers and foliage against a dark brown lacquer ground.
