|《说文》曰：“韘，射也”， 韘即是扳指的前身，说明此器起初是为骑射之具。清代各种规制日趋完善，扳指虽小却也是森严等级的一种象征，多以玉石、翡翠、玛瑙、珊瑚等名贵材料制作的扳指，非皇室贵胄一般人不得随意佩戴。|扳指玉质细腻温润，器型规整呈圆柱体，内壁光滑，上下两端均雕刻细密规则回纹锁边，中间刻馆阁体楷书御题诗，刀法严整细劲，制式符合清宫造办处的档案记载。
