Two carved cameo agate snuff bottles


Both well-hollowed, cleverly utilizing the natural darker colors in the stone for the design; the first an ovoid bottle worked in Suzhou School style, continuously carved in relief with monkeys holding peaches on serrated rocks, one side inscribed 'fu shou tu'; the second a thin-sectioned rectangular bottle , one side skillfully carved in relief with a monkey riding a horse near a gnarled pine tree to represent the rebus 'mashang fenghou' (May you receive a swift promotion to a high-ranking position).1 3/4 and 2 1/16in (4.5 and 5.3cm) high
