A DUTCH WALL-MOUNTED HOLY WATER FONT AND BASIN, early 20th Century, manufactured by the Societe Ceramique Maestricht, the rectangular shaped cistern inscribed in Latin with the prayer 'DA domine virtutem manibus meis ad abstergendam omnem maculam; ut sine pollutione mentis et corporis valeam tibi servire' in red and blue script above a crucifix, within blue fleur-de-lis borders, the cover with a shell finial, the basin similarly decorated, the cistern 32cm high, the basin 29.5cm wide, printed factory marks in blue(3)

FOOTNOTES: The inscription translates as 'Give virtue to my hands, O Lord, that being cleansed from all stain I might serve you with purity of mind and body'.
