|The four Smith brothers, Francis, George, David and Benjamin, worked together as subscription agents and salesmen for the New York lithographer Edwin Whitefield. It is here that they learned the trade for which they would become famous, setting up 'Smith Brothers & Co.' in 1849. Particularly noted for their highly detailed and accurate depictions of cities, their view of Habana, Cuba, was published in 1851 and is noted for these exact qualities.
