Cawdle, Torquay, a William IV bracket clock: the eight-day duration double-fusee movement striking the hours on a bell, with pull repeat of the last hour at will, the eight-inch round painted dial having black Roman numerals, a strike/silent lever to the top, blued-steel fleur-de-lys hands and signed Cawdle, Torquay, the mahogany case with a curved convex moulding to the base, brass trim to the inset panels to the front, wooden sound frets to the sides and surmounted with a stepped pediment, height 43cms. * Biography. Henry Cawdle is recorded at 58 Lower Union Street, Torquay, Devon from before 1878 until at least 1883 and at Bexley Terrace, Bampfylde Road in 1890 and is likely to be the retailer of this clock.* Note.
