Manner of Michiel Janszoon van Mierevelt (Dutch, 1567-1641) Portrait of a Gentleman with a Ruff, Possibly from the House of Orange Unsigned, inscribed "Granchi" on a gummed label affixed to the back of the frame. Oil on cradled panel, 21 3/4 x 18 in. (55.0 x 45.5 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered retouch including broad brushstrokes to background and clothing and fine dots to the face, surface imperfections and alligatoring, cracks or seams in the panel that form a rectangle around the face and collar of the sitter, subtle vertical striations, surface grime. Estimate $800-1,200 Also with a label from the Fogg Art Museum/Loan for Examination affixed to the reverse. Framed dimensions are 28 1/4 x 23 1/4 in.
