此三足紫檀笔筒选材精良，器型硕大而规整，口沿和底边起线优美，下有三弧形条足支撑，包浆莹润，器表不事雕琢，全靠造型简朴和木料自身的优雅纹理取胜。由于紫檀生长期长，质地坚硬致密，成为常用木质素材，且色调深沉，变化无穷，所制器物大多采用光素，以彰显本身纹理之华美。
