Chinese HuangHuaLi Scholar box. Of rectangular form, the front opening by pair of panel doors . The box is mounted with ruyi-shaped fittings and lock plate, all in huangtong. Enclosing a slightly arched and paneled carrying handle flanked by reticulated scrolling spandrels with both side of the handle. The HuangHuaLi wood displays a dense hardwood, with deep-brown strikes over golden-black shades tone and translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured patterns appearing like ghost faces motif.
