Ca. 12th-13th century stele depicting Ganesha and a teaching Buddha. The somewhat naive image of Buddha appears to illustrate an Angkor Wat style Buddha. The style of inscription indicates an Angkor or post-Angkor date, however the stele does not appear to be dated. The stele is inscribed with multiple lines of sanskrit text on its front and rear. The stele without the wood base measures 40cm x 18cm x 5cm (or 34cm tall excluding its locator). Loose mounted to a wood base (later). Provenance: Ex- private US Collection. Please contact us for high resolution images of the piece.
