A pair of Battersea enamel plaques c.1753-56, the oval forms printed in manganese, one with a portrait of a Chancellor of the Exchequer, probably intended to be Henry Boyle, 1st Earl of Shannon, the other with a portrait of Elizabeth Gunning from a painting by Francis Cotes, each mounted in a black rectangular frame, the plaques 9cm. (2)Elizabeth Gunning, later Duchess of Hamilton, Duchess of Argyll and 1st Baroness Hamilton of Hameldon, was an Irish beauty and younger sister of Maria Gunning, Countess of Coventry.
