|This famous model was cast after the antique marble held in Capitoline Museums, Rome. It was originally acquired for the Capitoline Museums by Pope Clement XII, before being taken by the French in 1797 where it was displayed in the Musée Central des Arts. Following Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo in 1815, the sculpture was returned to Rome.
