Each mounted on a walnut plinth base, 19.5cm wide, 11cm deep, 42.5cm high (7 1/2in wide, 4in deep, 16 1/2in high) (2)
|Also known as the Old Centaur and Young Centaur, they were found together at Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli in December 1736, and were widely copied in bronze and marble. An 18th century copy can be found at the Royal Academy, London.
