An enamelled gold-mounted velvet book cover
unmarked, probably by Alexander James Strachan, circa 1833 The enamelled gold mounts formed as monkeys, squirrels and birds playing amongst scrolls, containing an almanac for 1833, the almanac contains five pencil sketches (Bushy House and Windsor amongst others), one signed 'G Hayter' and another 'AR', possibly for Queen Adelaide, length 10.7cm.
|The enamelled gold mounts on this box have strong similarities with those found on gold boxes with the maker's mark of Alexander James Strachan. See Christie's 7th July 2016, lot 227.
