Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875), According toWounded love Bronze sculpture with dark brown patina. Signed "JB Carpeaux", branded "Cire perdue" and "Susse Fres Edtrs Paris". - 50 x 34 x 20 cm- The original full-scale (78 cm) version in marble was exhibited at the 1874 salon. Carpeaux created this sculpture in summer of 1873, overwhelmed by the tears of his son, Charles-Jean-Louis, who had dislocated his shoulder in a fall. In 1914, when Susse Frères acquired the exclusive rights to the Carpeaux models, this miniature of the sculpture was made. The Musée d’Orsay retains the original model under reference number RF 4312.
