A South Indian brass figure of Durga, Mahisasuramardini, Karnataka 14th-16th century Well cast, the diety with eighteen hands holding attributes representing the collective power of other gods and goddessess, her right foot over mahisa with human head to buffalo body, her vahana to her side, on an oval lotus-petal stand, rectangular base, with a warm brown patina, traces of gilding, the surfaces well-worn from centuries of devotions.
