A Japanese Satsuma-type enameled and gilt pottery vase and a bowl Meiji period, late 19th century The vase decorated with a panel depicting three Japanese women in a flowering landscape, the reverse with ducks and wisteria in a landscape, the midnight blue ground with dense gilt foliate and floral scrollwork in two tones of gold, underside inscribed Gyokuzan(?); the globular bowl with inverted rim, on three short feet, decorated with a panel depicting Samurai, the reverse with ladies and children on a terrace, gilt diaper and scrolls on midnight blue ground, indistinct signature to underside.
