Extra engraved title, woodcut vignette on title. Contemporary vellum. Lacking engraved portrait at front, light dampstaining to lower outside corner through several leaves, small marginal tears.Provenance: Ralph W. Major (bookplate); University of Kansas, Library of the History of Medicine (bookplate).FIRST EDITION. An important association copy of a rare book, arranged in order of remedies, rather than by diseases. Dekkers was the first to describe albumin in the urine, in chapter 5. Ralph Major, who owned this copy and donated it to the University of Kansas, described the book in his Classic Descriptions of Disease: "The frontispiece of this work shows the physician with his healing wand passing among the sick, many of whose ailments the artist has depicted with startling accuracy."
