Library stamp on title page, light soiling to covers, minor browning.The Schola Medica Salernitana, founded in the 9th century, "dispelled the stagnation of medicine which had persisted throughout the dark ages. Its masters were the first medieval physicians to cultivate medicine as an independent science" (Garrison-Morton). There were a number of instructional books published for the school by its physician instructors, of which Regimen Sanitatus Salerni was among the earliest, with editions as early as 1535.
