Abrasion to front free endpaper of volume 2, a few pages roughly opened, toning to dust jacket spines, wear to slipcase. FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, inscribed by Grace R. Osler, on the date of publication, "From Grace Osler. Oxford. April 16, 1925." Grace Osler asked Cushing to write this definitive biography of her husband, for which he won the Pulitzer Prize. Writes Michael Bliss, "Grace loved the Cushings more than anyone else in Osler's medical circle.
