Wenckebach conducted his studies on arrhythmia (spelled with only one "r" in the title of this work) using polygraphs, before the introduction of the electrocardiograph. Lewis made many classic contributions to our modern understanding of cardiac arrhythmia. The date of Lewis's ownership inscription, September 5, 1908, was just a month before he published his first paper on the subject. Bedford 523.
