挂屏是一种陈设性家具，悬挂于厅堂之上，起装饰作用。清代宫廷尤其喜爱使用挂屏装饰，以达到富丽堂皇的装饰效果，与其皇家身份相配，今故宫博物院重华宫等多处宫殿内均有此类陈设。本拍品以竹框，长方形，以平行棱线为饰，简洁疏朗。屏心髹黑色漆地，正中以贴簧制竹子，契合郑板桥喜欢竹子气节，寄托书生意气。整器虽极富空间感，却并无一般所见乾隆挂屏之繁缛，自有清疏之象，更觉文气平和。
